Smoky Mountain Dock Dogs will be hosting some practices thru the summer at Ultimutt. For more information and to schedule: http://www.smokymountaindockdogs.com/practice.html
Some of these practices are only for dogs who already know how to swim confidently. If your dog doesn't know how to swim confidently yet, we recommend you sign up with Ultimutt for swimming lessons. A trial session would be the place to start. Lake water and pool water can be much different to a dog as well.
We will be hosting a Beginner Practice on May 9 from 10am to 4pm . This will be only for dogs who already know how to swim confidently. It is for dogs that are ready to learn how to dock dive.

Our above ground pool is 42x20 ft and about 4 ½ ft deep It is ionized. An ionized above-ground pool offers several advantages over traditional chlorine-based pools, including less chlorine usage, reduced irritation for swimmers, and potential cost savings. Ionization systems like copper ionizers effectively kill algae and bacteria, minimizing the need for high chlorine levels. This can lead to clearer water, reduced chlorine smell, and fewer instances of skin irritation or hair discoloration. We occasionally add chlorine after heavy use..

New dogs to our pool are required to schedule a Trial Session. We go slowly and work at the pace the dog is comfortable with. Usually, 10-15 minutes is enough for the first time but sometimes we can use all 30 minutes. We want the dog to be comfortable going in and getting out of our pool. For those that are new to the pool it may take the entire 20-30 minutes or even a second trial.

All dogs are required to schedule a trial session. For dogs that have been in a pool (above ground or in-ground) this trial may only take a few minutes to ensure the dog knows how to get out safely. Once we think your dog is happy and safe, you have the rest of the time to play.
Fill out our Pool Registration form to get updates and register your dog to swim this season.
